Lib Dems in Devonshire are fighting hard to prevent the Pier from being allowed to remain open until 5am.

The Atlantis Nightclub has asked to be open until 4am and the Fish and Chip shop has put in an application to stay open until 5am, despite protests from residents.

Local campaigner Steve Wallis says, "This is an appalling state of affairs. It rides roughshod over local residents' opinions and will severely damage our essential local hotel trade."

Cllr Beryl Healy added, "Local residents can rely on us to continue fighting this outrageous new law and will listen to voters, unlike the New Labour Government".
