No end in sight for NHS crisis

April 10, 2006 1:21 PM

Local patients are set to suffer as Labour's NHS crisis worsens. The Government's failure to run the NHS properly could mean up to 20,000 NHS jobs are to be cut including Doctors, nurses and other vital NHS staff.

Already hundreds of job losses have been announced here in the South East. The Lib Dems are leading the opposition to the cuts. Local Lib Dem campaigner Brian Staker slammed the cuts saying, "We have not seen cuts like this since the Conservatives were running the NHS."

"Massive staff and funding cuts will lead to more patients suffering. It is a disgraceful situation."

Doctors condemn cuts

Labour's health cuts have received almost universal condemnation by health experts. One Doctor speaking to a major newspaper said, "If we cut staff, that can only mean more bed closures, longer delays for care and, in the end, that does mean people dying on the waiting lists. There is no point beating about the bush, people are going to suffer."

Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have come under fire for failing to act on the NHS crisis. Lib Dem campaigner Pat Rodohan said, "Once again, Labour have broken their promises to Eastbourne people."
