Lib Dem Lords Leader backs Save the DGH campaignThe Liberal Democrat Leader in the House of Lords, Lord McNally, visited Eastbourne last week. He took time out to show his support for the Save the DGH campaign by signing the Option 5 petition, and discussing the latest developments with Liz Walke and Monica Corrina-Kavakli. The two co-chairs of the hospital campaign.

Lord McNally said: "It was good to meet Liz and Monica. My colleague Stephen Lloyd had already told me of the extraordinary efforts they have put in over the last year or so. The Save the DGH campaign is a superb effort by local people. Keeping maternity and A&E in Eastbourne is obviously so important for the town and the surrounding area. I was also pleased to see that all the political parties locally are joined together in the fight to protect core services."

Lib Dem parliamentary challenger Stephen Lloyd added: "I appreciate Tom McNally taking time out to support the campaign. We have reached a crucial stage awaiting the results of the public consultation and it was good that Liz and Monica were able to explain just how important it is that the PCT properly considers Option 5. The proposals put together by the Save the DGH group, with expert medical input, which would maintain consultant led maternity units on both sites. The Trust has a duty to consider all the options and it is important we keep up the pressure."
