Local Lib Dem Councillors are backing a new project to provide Langney's young people with a much-needed drop-in and advice centre.
The Councillors have given £2,300 of their 'local area money' to Langney's Beat Youth Club, to provide a safe cafe-style environment, where young people can come and socialise and get professional advice on important issues.
Langney Lib Dem Councillor Troy Tester said, "The Beat Youth Club already does an excellent job in providing facilities for Langney's young people."
"I hope our small contribution to their work will help keep our young people off the streets in a safe and fun centre."
Eastbourne campaigner Stephen Lloyd added, "I have been working closely with the Beat Youth Club and I am delighted our local Lib Dem Councillors are supporting this worthwhile project."
"Young people right across town need places like the Beat Youth Club to have fun and get advice - whilst staying safe."
Colin Akers, who is a Trustee of the club, added, "The idea is for young school leavers to come and meet, use IT facilities and receive support from a range of experts about various issues they are experiencing."
"When I met with Stephen Lloyd about this project, I was delighted he then spoke with the Councillors to see how they could help. If anyone feels they would like to help or get involved, please feel free to call me on 07872 030297."
