Lib Dem parliamentary campaigner Stephen Lloyd has called upon other local candidates standing in Eastbourne and Willingdon at the next General Election to sign up to a joint pledge to clean up British politics.
Stephen said, "British politics is in a mess right now. It's clear that local people are fed up with the scandal of MPs expense and want real action, fast. It's time to restore faith in British politics."
"That's why I have written to all the other confirmed candidates standing for parliament in Eastbourne and Willingdon at the next General Election, asking them to sign up to the campaign. I believe that we must clearly set out to local residents what we will do to help clean up the system, if elected to Parliament."
"If I am fortunate to be elected at the next General Election, I have pledged the following:
• I will publish in full detail, without 'redaction', all expenses reclaimed in the pursuit of my parliamentary duties
• I will be a full time MP and will never accept any paid directorships
• I will never seek to profit from the MPs' second home allowance
• I will always put the interests of Eastbourne & Willingdon above my own or my Party's
• I will continue to live in Eastbourne, among the community I serve
• I will serve all my constituents, regardless of their politics
• I will not employ any members of my family
• I will act with honesty, integrity, openness and candour at all times
• I will tell people my real views, even when I know they will disagree with me
"I hope the other candidates will join me in backing this vital initiative."
