MP Chooses Eastbourne Salvation Army as Christmas Charity

December 17, 2010 9:46 AM

Salvation Army community development officer Pauline Peagam, Major Linda Squirrel, Stephen Lloyd MP and Major David Squirrel at the Salvation Army Citadel in Seaside.Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd launched his Christmas charity appeal last weekend, choosing the Eastbourne branch of the Salvation Army as the charity he is supporting this year.

Stephen said: "I have always been a huge supporter and admirer of the Salvation Army. The work they do and have been doing for over 100 years to provide clothing, shelter and advice to the most vulnerable people in our society is still going strong in Eastbourne. It is so important that the Eastbourne Army drop-in centre on Seaside has enough money to be able to provide help and warmth to those who find themselves on their own at this time of the year and to those who may be homeless. That is why I have chosen the local branch as my Christmas charity."

He added: "For anyone who would like to make a contribution to my Salvation Army appeal please send their donation to me at the Town Hall. Make cheques payable to 'Eastbourne MP's Commission', and I will collect all the money before writing what will hopefully be one big cheque; well in time for all the good work they'll be doing in our town this Christmas."

The full postal address for donations is: Stephen Lloyd MP, 2010 Christmas MP's Appeal, Chief Executive's Office, Grove Road, Eastbourne, BN21 4UH.
