Good news! The campaign, led by your LiberalDemocrat Councillors, to save Old Town Recreation Ground from being built on in perpetuityhas resulted in a great success. Expressions of support for this recreation ground to receive protection under the Q.E.2 Fields in Trust scheme, which was setup by Prince William to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, were the highest of any scheme

in Eastbourne and also the second highest postal vote in the country. The formal paperwork granting protection is planned to be issued by the jubilee weekend early in the summer. This goes to show what local residents and councillors can achieve when they work together. We are now asking for Motcombe Gardens to be given the same protection under the Q.E.2 scheme.

Following this great success your Old Town Lib Dem Councillors are now asking Eastbourne

Council to refurbish the publit toilets in the pavilion at the recreation ground. They have asked for funding for this work to be made available from the Council's budget.
