Lloyd Welcomes Lillian’s Law becoming Law!

May 10, 2013 12:31 PM

Last week the Crime and Courts Bill Received royal assent, and with it the law to outlaw Drug Driving, commonly known as 'Lillian's Law' after the tragic death of Lillian Groves in 2010.

Lillian's Grandparents are Eastbourne residents, and the whole family met with Stephen last week when he organised for them to visit the Houses of Parliament.

Commenting, Stephen Lloyd said: "I was delighted to welcome the family to Parliament. The success of their campaign to change the law - Lillian's Law - was a tribute to people power and an amazing family who, through tragedy, have made a real difference that will benefit many other families."

"This area of legislation has been overlooked for too long and I was very relieved when the coalition government decided to listen to public opinion. I know Lillian's friends and family have put a huge amount of effort into their campaign and I'm glad that we were finally able to fix this unfairness. This is a desperately sad case which has led to something good."
