Hampden Park Post Office to reopen on Tuesday

November 27, 2013 3:24 PM

Stephen Lloyd MP has welcomed news that the Hampden Park Post Office in Brassey Avenue is scheduled to reopen this coming Tuesday, the 3rd of December.

The Post Office was closed in May this year following an arson attack and robbery which left the property with severely fire damage. Extensive repairs have been ongoing since this time, but the Post Office was only able to gain access to the premises at the end of last month to complete their refit. Many local residents and businesses had become extremely frustrated by the delay, and Stephen Lloyd has been lobbying hard for the shop to be reopened as soon as possible. Just this week he finally received the welcome news that it will finally reopen next week.

Stephen Lloyd said: "I was appalled to hear of the shocking attack earlier this year, but am very pleased that the Post Office is to open again in a few days. The delay was excessive, but I'm delighted that the residents of Hampden Park will shortly have their Post Office back again. An interim sub-postmaster has been found and thank heavens in a few days it will be fully operational in time for the busy Christmas period."
