Lloyd delivers Christmas cake to reopened Hampden Park PO

December 17, 2013 5:32 PM

Stephen Lloyd MP and local Ward Councillors visited the newly refurbished Hampden Park Post Office last week to welcome the new Post Mistress, Mrs Gita Raj, to her role.

The post office was temporarily closed following an arson attack in May which saw the property severely fire damaged. Extensive repairs were necessary and took many months to be completed. Pressure from the MP and local ensured that has been reopened in time for Christmas.

Stephen Lloyd, County Councillor Mike Blanche and local Ward Councillors Pat Hearn, Mike Thompson and Jim Murray all visited the new Post Office as soon as it had reopened to welcome the new Post Mistress, Mrs Raj, and see how the shop was looking since its refurbishment.

Stephen said: "I was very happy to welcome the new Post Mistress to her role. This Post Office has seen some difficult times over recent months but it has always been a popular hub for the local community and businesses. It was sorely missed over the months it was closed, so I am delighted to see the shop reopened and refitted. We all wished the new Post Mistress well in her role and were delighted to deliver on behalf of Hampden Park, a welcoming Christmas cake for her and her family. I am sure the Hampden Park Post Office will once again play an important role in our local community. "

Mrs Raj added: I am thrilled to reopen the Hampden Park Post Office and it was such a lovely surprise for Stephen and the Councillors to give me an early Christmas present! The response I have had from Hampden Park residents has been lovely.
