Lloyd welcomes meeting to start A27 feasibility study

January 20, 2014 5:34 PM

Stephen Lloyd MP has welcomed news from Transport Minister Robert Goodwill MP that a meeting will be held in Brighton this Wednesday to discuss the upcoming feasibility study to improve the A27.

Local highways authorities, trade associations and other stakeholders will be meeting with the Department of Transport at to discuss how the road can be improved, the needs of its users and the scope of the study. The timeline is for the study to be completed in the second half of the year with the findings ready to be reported in the Spring of 2015.

Stephen Lloyd MP said: "I'm absolutely delighted that this is moving ahead at such a pace, particularly after our section of the A27 road has not been improved to the standard a growing town the size of Eastbourne needs. As the meeting is to be on a Wednesday, I'll unfortunately be in Westminster, but my Head of Office Alan Shuttleworth will be going on my behalf and ensure that Eastbourne's voice is heard loud and clear. I'll keep everyone updated on what is happening, and how we can all get involved to give Eastbourne the best chance to see this long overdue improvement to the A27."
