Eastbourne & Willingdon Lib Dems

A27 Roadshow Motors On

March 4, 2014 2:52 PM

Stephen Lloyd MP's A27 Roadshow continues to gain momentum on its journey around Eastbourne. Last weekend he was in Terminus Road again, collecting new signatures on his petition which already has well over a thousand names.

The Roadshow has stopped at many places around Eastbourne and Willingdon calling for the dangerous A27 road to be dualled between Eastbourne and Lewes. Before last week this juggernaut stopped at the Seven Sister's Pub in Willingdon and Morrisions in Hampden Park the week before. Stephen and the petition can be found next at Asda in the Crumbles between 10 and 12 tomorrow (Saturday). Alternatively the petition can also be signed online at www.stephenlloyd.org.uk/en/petition/dual-the-a27, as can the Chamber of Commerce's surveys for residents and businesses.

Stephen said: "The response to my petition and Roadshow has been fantastic. By looking at the huge sheaf of petitions sitting in my office, we must easily have a few thousand signatures! This is tremendous and doesn't even include the hundreds of signatures online. I look forward to seeing many more people at Asda tomorrow, and I would encourage everyone who can't make it there to sign the online petition on my website. On the same page are links to the Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce's excellent surveys which have also seen hundreds of responses from both residents and businesses alike."

He added: "This huge response is another terrific example of the Buzz embracing Eastbourne right now. To see so many people come out in support of our town's key road link is excellent, as we all know what a great impact it will have on our local economy. On top of this, we have the £85 investment committed to the Arndale Centre, the apprenticeships sector is booming, and my Fast Train to Eastbourne campaign is getting huge support from across the town. Planning for our 3rd Annual Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival has also started, meaning spring can't be too far away. It's a great time to be in Eastbourne!"
