Eastbourne students set to save more on Unizone ticket

May 13, 2014 3:56 PM

Eastbourne students are set to gain from huge savings on fares using Southern's Unizone student season ticket. The Brighton Unizone, which currently covers stations east to Falmer, is being extended giving unlimited travel to stations between East Worthing and Eastbourne from 18 May 2014.

To qualify for the Unizone discount, students simply need a valid NUS card and a rail photo identity card.

Paul Wyborn, Southern's area manager said: "The Unizone ticket at £15.30 a week is an amazing deal and we are really pleased to be able to offer this extension to Eastbourne. This will make train travel even more viable for students heading off to university or college."

Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd said: "I am delighted that this ticket is now available to local University Students. The Unizone is an excellent concept and it had never made sense that it didn't reach as far as Eastbourne. With our growing town centre, thriving job prospects, picturesque seafront and great quality of life, Eastbourne is a perfect place to live while studying, so this announcement is very welcome. I have been calling for the Unizone's extension alongside the Brighton Students' Union in for some time now, and I am very pleased that this has been so successful. "

The revised Brighton Unizone ticket will provide unlimited train travel for students between the following stations: Eastbourne, Hampden Park, Polegate, Berwick, Glynde, Lewes, Southease, Newhaven Town, Newhaven Harbour, Bishopstone, Seaford, Cooksbridge, Plumpton, Falmer, Moulsecoomb, London Road, Preston Park, Brighton, Hove, Aldrington, Portslade, Fishersgate, Southwick, Shoreham-by-Sea, Lancing and East Worthing.
