Old Town Campaign Successes

old town toiletsAt an Eastbourne Borough Council meeting, the Liberal Democrat run council agreed monies to refurbish the public conveniences at the Green Street triangle next to Victoria Drive. The campaign to have these conveniences refurbished was started and run by the local Lib Dem Councillors John Ungar, Jonathan Dow and Janet Coles.

Hundreds of local people supported the Liberal Democrat campaign, they signed and returned the support slips printed in the Focus to show their approval. Cllrs Jonathan Dow, Janet Coles and John Ungar say a big "Thank You"to all the residents who supported the Campaign to have these conveniences refurbished.

Councillor John Ungar, who spoke in support at the Council meeting said, " I'm glad the Council agreed to this request. I'm really pleased that, at this time of austerity when the Council's government grant has been reduced by so much, the Council managed to find the money."

Over 100 years on built up silt removed!

E astbourne Liberal Democrat controlled Borough Council has removed 100 years of built-up silt from Motcombe pond. This follows the successful campaign by your Liberal Democrat Councillors John Ungar Janet Coles and Jonathan Dow. A specialist contractor was employed as well as an ecologist, this ensured that there was minimal disruption to the wildlife and environment. The silt that has been removed has been left to dry and it will be used to improve the flower beds and level the grass. A new Island for nesting wildlife is installed.
