Eastbourne & Willingdon Lib Dems

Save our libraries!

willingdonJust joined Willingdon Residents Association Chairman, John Pritchett and county councillor Lib Dem Colin Swansborough and others in Willingdon to collect the petitions and letters local residents and the schools have put together to try and stop the County Council from closing their much-loved library in Willingdon.

I will be at County Hall in Lewes tomorrow handing over the 2,000 signatures that folk from Langney and Willingdon have sent to me.

Cllr Swansborough will accept them and as the Chair of Scrutiny at the county council, he is doing his level best to keep them open. In fact he's tried to refer the closure proposals back for re-consideration but unfortunately, though he's the Chair, he keeps being out-voted by the three Conservative councillors on his committee!

Wish us all luck folks - and thank you so much to everyone across the town who have been so supportive of our campaign. If you haven't completed the county council survey yet then please do click on the link below and complete.

It's all about keeping our libraries open as an important community facility!
